Hollywood Reporter Calls Elizabeth Warren New “It Girl”
Last week, the Hollywood Reporter’s Tina Daunt wrote an article about Los Angeles heavyweights like Barbara Streisand and Norman Lear are throwing their support behind Massachusetts senatorial candidate Elizabeth Warren. Unfortunately, Daunt’s lead was just plain sexist:
Massachusetts senatorial candidate Elizabeth Warren is Democratic Hollywood's new "It girl," a status that will be ratified Tuesday, Nov. 1 when the party's local elder statesman, Norman Lear, and his wife Lynn host a fundraiser for the Harvard Law professor and consumer advocate, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
It’s unfortunate that Daunt chose to refer to a grown woman as a “girl.” Warren is a well-respected financial expert and law professor at Harvard University. Calling her anything but a woman is demeaning and sexist.
