Jerry Brown Campaign on Meg Whitman

The Name It. Change It. Campaign denounces the sexist statement made in a private conversation that was accidentally recorded between Democratic gubernatorial candidate Jerry Brown and his advisers, about Republican opponent Meg Whitman.  During the conversation, Brown or one of his associates called Meg Whitman a “whore.”  Although not made by a media outlet, this comment highlights the prevalence of sexist speech used in our current political environment.  The Name It. Change It. campaign urges everyone to avoid sexist and demeaning language in discussing women candidates. Such misogynistic remarks continue to show that sexism is a cultural norm in the midterm election's political landscape, and it causes serious harm to both candidates.
